It was Tenspeed and Brown Shoe that led me to do the original Top Cop Flops post, and a commenter, crackblind, who said Gilbert Gottfried mentioned Tenspeed on his podcast and did an ep. on cop shows. That was an amazing mini-ep. and I went back and took notes. They did every show I knew in the first ten minutes. I was in awe. My field was movies. I knew a little about TV because I watched stuff like Tenspeed and Brown Shoe, but this podcast episode and commenter is what started the serious, in-depth look at 70s and 80s television.

Someone at a football game I was cooking at tried to stump me, a magazine editor guy who was a little older, and I told him flatly that it was impossible for him to mention a 70s or 80s TV show I was not familiar with. It was flatly impossible because I was totally immersed in this stuff for over a year. Still am. He had two very good picks: Harry O and Alias Smith and Jones. I said, well, I covered Harry O on my TV Detectives Golden Horn series and Alias Smith and Jones plays every Sunday morning on Cozi-TV. It kind of blew his mind a little bit, but he would have had to have been very lucky or have specialized knowledge to name something I didn’t know. The Kallikaks.

Thanks for that. I need to go back and take notes. I’ve been wanting to do a cop show/detective post with obscure titles. Me-TV plays some of the Mystery Movies but it is only the popular ones.

They talk about this TV movie detective parody constantly on The Amazing Colossal Podcast.
